Today I....

  • spent way, way, wayyyy too long trying to assemble a child seat for the back of my bike so that we can enjoy family bike rides when Spring arrives in Maine. Which should be sometime in June.
  • realized after I served a "cheater dinner" of chicken patties for the boys, that I bought Tres chicken nuggets from that Golden Arches place for lunch. Oops. Perhaps that was too much processed chicken in one day. To make up for it, I made him eat an egg.
  • heard from friendly fifth grader that my kindergartner has a girlfriend. Its not a surprise. Sparky has been drawing pictures of himself and *L* for over a year now. I asked Sparky if there was any kissing involved and he staunchly denied it. THERE BETTER NOT BE YOUNG MAN!!! But, seriously, I think its cute. As long as it stays innocent until he's 18, then its cute. In fact, I still remember my kindergarten crush.
  • laughed when I heard Catfish exclaim that the tulips turned colors. The back story is that he had been eating a Gobstopper Jawbreaker which turned from purple to pink to white, and so when he noticed that the tulips went from yellow to purple he attributed it to the same Willy Wonka phenomena. He was only slightly disappointed when I explained that the yellow tulips died and I bought new purple ones.
  • spent a few moments really cherishing the toddler who is still the baby of the house. Just kissing on his belly and taking a few moments to be so very thankful for his chubby thighs and soft skin. Then I laughed when I sang "Rock a bye baby" to him, but he got all mad and corrected me. I couldn't say, "and down will fall baby." He insisted I say his name instead. In fact he pointed at himself and said, "NO! Daww-wen."
  • Was feeling moody and cranky for a while, until I sat down to write about my day and realized how full of blessings it has been. I am so thankful to have three happy, healthy children. To be able to feel God's presence in my life. To love and be loved. Always good to see God's grace when you least expect it.
