We've spent the past two evenings at Hadlock Field watching the Portland Sea Dogs take on the Trenton Thunder in the Eastern League Northern Divison Finals. Whew, that was a mouthful. Yes....I took all three boys on my own and braved the crowds. And yes, I think we already previously established that I'm a bit on the crazy side (as evidenced by our recent roadtrip).
Anyhoo...we had a great time both nights. Of course, the games are always more fun when your team is a winner, and that was the case for us. Portland defeated Trenton and will be playing in the Eastern League finals against either Altoona or Akron. Hubby should be home from his extended work trip by then, so I'm hoping we can get everyone to at least one more game.
What a fantastic time the games are. Its a relatively cheap night, even the snacks are still reasonably priced, and its good fun for the boys (and me too!). I figured out the trick to keeping us all engaged...after fighting the crowds in general admission the first night, we moved to general admission WAAAAY over the third base line, near the dugout. These bleachers are essentially empty and it gives the boys the freedom to run around and cheer as loud as they want. And they are not as overstimulated as they were when we tried to squeeze in seats in the midst of the crowd.
It pays off to make friends with the dugout too, because both boys ended up catching a ball tossed in from the Trenton Dugout. Last night, Sparky's ball was actually fouled into the dugout and then thrown up by one of their guys (not sure if he was a pitcher or coach) and on Friday Catfish was able to get a ball they were using to warm up with.
Good fun by was had by all...even with a 90 minute rain delay. At least the advantage there was that a bunch of people left and we were able to go re-park in a lot much closer than our original spot.
Sooooo....LET'S GO SEADOGS!! I can't wait for Friday's game!!

Hey, the boys have real names now! Oh, American Baseball haven't seen one of those games in months, but NFL Football was on last night and I enjoyed it!
Since you're staying as anonymous :-) I'm making the boys anonymous again as well!!
