First Day of the Rest of Your Life

Well at least for the next 13 years or so.

Sparky started Kindergarten today. I'm so glad we made the decision last year to send him to a school that had Pre-K-8, because it made today seem much less scary. He already knew the teacher from last year, he had some friends returning and he was familiar with the school, the routine and the building.

But that didn't mean it wasn't still just a little bit sad. We got him all settled in and then the whole school assembles for the morning in front of the flagpole. I was trying to hang back and let the teacher do her thing, but all of a sudden I could find him anywhere. I finally realized he was up in the very front having a bit of a meltdown. I made my way up there and gave him another hug and promised I wouldn't leave til we waved goodbye. He settled down and had a smile on his face. All was well in the world.

When I picked him up this afternoon, he was all smiles. He didn't have too much to say about his day (THAT STARTS ALREADY?!!??!) but when I asked him what his favorite part was he said that it was all good. So I guess that's a pretty good first day.

Whew.....Only 9 more months to go!
