New year, new blog template (some day, I hope someone will teach me how to make fancy blog pages instead of my sad rotation through the ones Blogger has to offer---but that is another post for another day).
Today I want to write about Three Kings Day or The Feast of the Magi. This was one of my favorite days to celebrate when we lived in Spain. It was always a day filled with parades and family time and the joy of little ones.
That was back before we had little ones of our own and I always used to say that when we had kids, we would celebrate like the Spaniards. Our gifts would arrive with the Three Kings and we would have another round of celebrating. I always loved how the Spaniards focused on baby Jesus at Christmas and gave gifts to their families on Three Kings' Day. But alas, Santa is much busier here in the states than he was in Spain and so we don't do much with the Three Kings and instead find ourselves immersed in all the wonder of Christmas on the day itself.
So, just in case you packed up all of your Christmas stuff up this weekend, remember that the 12 days of Christmas go until the 6th. I'll admit to ditching our tree yesterday (it really was becoming a fire hazard) but our lights and nativity scene are still up and they'll stay that way for a few more days. January is long and cold enough as it is. I for one, still need some Christmas light for a few more days.
That and some of the candy the Three Kings used to toss during the parades.
