yard sale success

Well this was, by far, our best yard sale ever.

We cleared almost $7000.

Yup. 7K. Almost (actually it was about $6925).

How? You ask.

Simple.

$125 worth of baby clothes, small kitchen appliances and little tykes toys.

$6800 for hubby's truck. Which wasn't really for sale, but nonetheless sold within the first hour.

As hubby was loading a backyard table and chairs into a gentleman's car, the fellow jokingly said that what he really wanted was a truck just like ours. Since my hubby is never one to miss an opportunity, he replied, "Really. How about a test drive?"

Within minutes both guys were tooling around the block in our red truck negotiating a deal. Both the gentleman's wife and I just stood there and chuckled. She originally purchased two sippy cups and our patio set; I don't think a new vehicle was on her list.

Truth be told, my hubby has talked for some time now about looking for a new vehicle. He reads the ads all the time and pours over consumer reports. So when the opportunity to sell presented itself literally in our front yard, it made sense to go for it.

So for Father's Day, I guess Daddy gets a new car. Only we don't have one picked out yet. Hmmm....good thing the bus line runs near our house!

As for me, I'm more than pleased to have several shelves in my basement cleared. I'll take my $125 and be happy ;-)

Who needs a big sale anyway???
