Cooking Meme

I've been tagged by Joanna for a cooking meme. And since answering questions is more fun than getting ready for tomorrow's garage sale, I thought I'd oblige.

When was the most recent time you were burned?

Recently I've started baking our bread for the week, and the oven has to be at least 450. I have a terrible habit of reaching in as soon as I open the door to grab the bread without giving the air a chance to dissipate. Quite a few minor steam burns from that. And one really bad burn from grabbing the stoneware with only a dishcloth instead of an oven mit. Lessons learned.

Can you cook?

Yes. If I want to put the time and effort into it, I am a decent cook. I can follow a recipe, but I don't necessarily think I'm a "natural" chef.

If yes, do you like to cook?

Depends. Mostly yes, but I don't mind having the reputation of not being able to cook ;-) Saves me from too much work. If I have the time, energy and right supplies, I actually quite enjoy cooking. Just don't tell anyone.

I'd love to take some basic techniques classes.

Yes, I just have no willpower so I try not to do it too often, otherwise I won't fit in my kitchen.
