tick tock tick

I recently replaced the batteries in a clock that never had a home in our last two houses. The clock now proudly sits on our fancy-schmancy new desk in our office (pictures of the office re-do, coming soon, I promise!!!). The whole darn set up just makes me feel peachy. Nice clean desk, nice orderly office supplies, even the office chair which I've never liked now fits in the scene.

Is there a point to all of this rambling? Why yes, there is.

The clock ticks and tocks. Shocking, I know, but in my digital world, I think this is the only "real" clock we have in the house, and now it is next to the computer. Counting down my every.single.second while I am online.

It makes goofing off on the net seem terribly unproductive.

Tick. Shouldn't you be doing the dishes?
Tock. Are the kids watching TV again?
Tick. Well at least if you're online, why don't you write that email?
Tock. NOOO not that site, be productive, don't wander aimlessly to the end of the internet.
Tick.
Tock.
Tick.
Tock.

Grrr...it is enough to make me use hubby's laptop in the kitchen.

I'd like to say that the clock reminds me to be thankful for each minute, to watch how I use my time and to be productive with my days. But it doesn't. Since I tend to procrastinate, the clock just reminds me that the minutes are ticking away.

So the choice on my end is do I choose to be thankful and productive? Or do I hide in the kitchen?

I'll give you a hint. The kitchen counter is a much warmer place to type than the office with the drafty windows.
