We have hit the age of internet awareness in our home and so it is time to ask my faithful readers a question.
Do you have a good internet filter you can recommend? Both Sparky and Catfish would like to go online and check out age appropriate sites. I don't have a problem with that, and 99% of the time I expect to be right next to them on the desk, but all it takes is one wrong click and you know the rest----way to much information coming their way.
So I know we need a filter---Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I'm all ears. Hubby and I were just talking about this.
We don't use a filter. My kids are only allowed on approved web sites, and forbidden to click away from them onto anything else, without permission.
Yes, I'm constantly being asked if they can go here or there, but at least I know they're asking, and they aren't going without permission.
So, sorry I can't help out. I would search under Family and Filter and see what comes up.
Nancy,
I've tried to search and a few come up, but I'd just like to know if they're worthy. My friend, Beth said she'd heard of bsafe, but I don't know anyone who personally uses it.
I like your system, but I'm still afraid of the random "accident"--on the other hand I don't want to be so dependent on a filter that I let my guard down because I'm relying on it to do my job.
The quest continues....
The company I work for has three services: (1) a monitoring program (accountability program mostly used by adults), (2) a filter, and (3) a combination of both.
Our accountability software isn't like a filter; it simply monitors where a user goes on the Internet. We create detailed Internet-usage reports of every single URL visited. These reports cannot be edited or erased (like a computer's Internet history) because all the information is housed by our servers. We also have an up-to-date scoring system that rates sites based on content and includes those numbers on the report. We have many families who use our service that are able to tell where exactly their children are going and when.
Our filter works with our accountability software very well.
