I'm baaaaackkkk

Sheesh. What a weeek! The flu in the summertime is not a fun time. I was seriously down and out all of last week. Didn't even manage to water the garden. And I don't even want to think about the amount of laundry that piled up while I was under the weather.

But I've got just the tiniest bit of lingering cough now and I am finally feeling back to normal. So much so that by yesterday evening I had managed to check quite a few things off the weekend to-do list. We made salsa, a baked ziti and chocolate chip cookies for three different "events" this weekend. The laundry----eh---not so much.

Today, however, was our annual neighborhood block party and it is always a really nice event. Lots of friendly neighbors and boisterous kids running around enjoying the last specks of summer in Maine. I'm feeling a bit melancholy over the whole thing though, because in all likelihood, it was our last one. I love this neighborhood and the thought of living somewhere else this time next year has me feeling very ho-hum. On the one hand, I really enjoy moving new places and meeting new people, but on the other this has become home and leaving home is never easy.

Ah well....tomorrow is the official first day of school so we have a busy day ahead of us. Pictures to come, I promise!!
