time out

Hubby came home early and Tres was fast asleep, so I took an opportunity to take the older boys out for a surprise. We intended on going to play mini golf, but the rains today left the course in bad shape, so we opted for a few games at Jokers (similar to a Chuck E. Cheese) instead. It was so nice to get some time just with them. We are so often rushing around or chasing the little fella, that we don't get much time to just goof off with each other. As I sat back and watched them on the mini train ride, I realized that it won't be long until they are too big for such rides. That things like that won't be cool anymore. It wasn't a sad realization, just a noted point. My boys are getting bigger everyday, and having a chance to hang out with them without an agenda really allows us to enjoy each other's company.

My favorite part of the day, however, was watching the two of them on the Ferris Wheel. I didn't ride with them, but I watched them share their excitement with each other with nervous smiles and animated faces. I'm so happy they will always have each other. The bond of brothers is so precious to me as a parent. I know that one day, my husband and I will be gone, but they will have each other. It warms my heart to see them playing and praying together like we did today. Its just enough to let me know that all the rough parts of mommyhood are worth every single minute to have boys who love and care for each other.
