My mother in law arrives tomorrow for a week long visit. Grandma hasn't visited since Christmas and everyone is really excited around here. She simply adores the boys and they love her to pieces!!
I am one of the few ladies I know that actually gets along and *gasp* even enjoys my MIL's company :-)! She's such a warm and funny person, I'm so thankful we get to visit with her as often as we do. Plus she's always up for watching the boys so hubby and I can have a date night or even so I can go off on my own during the afternoons.
My parents always warmly welcomed their in-laws, so I never quite understood the "crazy mother-in-law" jokes on late night TV. After getting to know some of my friend's in-laws though, I do have a better understanding of how strained the relationship can be. Which just makes me even more thankful to have a great mom-in-law.
One of the things that can be difficult about hubby's job is being so far away from family for such long stretches of time. On the other hand, being away makes time together that much more special. I think having some distance really makes us appreciate each other and the time we are able to spend with Grandma.
I'm not sure what we have planned for the week ahead, but I know we'll have fun. Eventually we will even celebrate Tres' 2nd birthday. The actual day was last week, but we were waiting for Grandma to have a party. She's ALWAYS up for a good party!!

Yay, fun! And I get along really well with my m-i-l, too. She's very much an "old world" momma: "You should eat some more, you're not hungry? What's wrong? And you should cut your beard and your hair! Oh la la!!" Obviously directed at my hubby, but funny every time! :)
have a great week, and enjoy the extra help! happy belated birthday #3! we need to get together again soon, my friend.
xo
Enjoy your visit :) I love my MIL, and she means well... but there is no way I could make it through a week-long, day in and day out, visit without pulling every.last.strand of hair out of my head ;)
