So here is the world's latest Oscar recap.
It was painfully long and the exciting moments truly were few and far between. But the drama queen in me stayed up to watch the whole thing.
My take on it all---
Can't believe that Pan's Labryinth won everything BUT best foreign film. Great awards for all the artsy stuff, but I was shocked that it didn't win the big one. Oh well. I guess the German film did have a lot of good press, but still....
When did the Oscars become all about Al Gore?
Jennifer Hudson and Forest Whitaker had the most heartfelt speeches by far. I was especially moved by Forest Whitaker's. His one at the Globes was rambling and dull, so this was a nice surprise. He was eloquent and humble and just all around excited. We all know that I cry at the drop of a hat, but I have to say, his was the only one to make me tear up as I listened.
I was thrilled that the Departed won for Best Picture. Mostly because it was the only film out of the nominees I had seen. So I'm glad I picked a good one for one of my infrequent trips to the movies.
My pics were only 4 out of 7. Not so bad I guess.
