Going to rant for a minute. Please feel free to skip reading this post if you're not up for it ;-)
I know there are many families where a spouse works crazy hours or is gone for stretches of time, so this isn't an unusual vent I'm sure, but I'm so tired of being the "heavy".
I feel like all I'm doing all day is barking orders.
Let's go, we're going to be late, stop dilly dallying, eat please, don't hit your brother, don't bug your brother, be nice, let's be kind to each other, stop, stop, stop, No, NO! And of course on it goes.
I know as moms we all say those things over and over throughout the day. But when you're the only one saying them for a while, it becomes so tiresome. I want to have fun with my kids and somedays I don't feel like that happens very much.
I'd like to find a way to get better about that.
But tonight, I'm just really, really tired of being "on duty" all day.

I feel your pain. My husband isn't deployed, so I can't compare, really. But he leaves for work at 530 AM and gets home, usually, around 8 PM. We "joke" that a half day for him is truly a half day - 12 hours. And those half days are the good ones - he's home before the kids go to bed.
It gets old.
