Monday, Monday......
Here we are a week later and still very little on the blogging front. I had a regular reader who I know and love in real life ask me the other day, "So do you like Virginia??" I guess I haven't given much, if any, insight into our new life except to say we are here and slowly unpacking. Sorry 'bout that.
Yes, we like it. Obviously still getting used to the area and all that stuff, but so far, so good. I love the house and the neighborhood, I am getting used to the traffic and busy-ness of living near a metropolitan area, but I like that there is so much to do nearby. I am enjoying the warmer temperatures. I like having IKEA and a variety of stores and malls instead of one. I can't wait to do a little more exploring and find some mom and pop places and more than the just the giant chains, but that will come in time. The base commissary still weirds me out a bit (ever since living overseas, I have a hard time shopping at them) but it is a very nice one and you can't beat the prices.
I am LOVING having my mom and dad here for a few days, I wish they could stay longer. But Grandma Nancy should be coming soon too, so that will be wonderful.
All in all, life is good. I am still feeling a bit lost in the woods (maybe a little bit of country mouse in the city or a raft adrift in the ocean, or any other random metaphors you can think of), but I know it will just take time for this to feel like home. By the time we leave in two years or so, it will feel like we've been here forever.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your new home. I have been in the same city for 19 years, and the same house for over 9, so I can only imagine that it's a mix of excitement and confusion!
